Flotilla? What flotilla?

Public confidence in legacy media has been plummeting for several years now and we know why. In a week when the Global Sumud Flotilla, largest yet with around 500 people on multiple boats, again tried to bring baby formula to Gaza, people in the U.S. heard no news of it. Instead U.S. news was mostly about a captive audience clown show upcoming.

And now it has happened. Again I am reminded of Frank Zappa’s observation that “Government is the entertainment division of the military-industrial complex.” Now on steroids. Literally.

The Laurel and Hardy aspect was provided when Hegseth lectured top brass on fat soldiers disgracing the armed forces while a tubby 47 was making a personal appearance in the role of commander in chief.

Owning the libs was on full display. (I am convinced this is why so many people will vote for 47. Well, that and white supremacy.) Here he is speaking to his underlings:

I call it the N-word. There are two N-words, and you can’t use either of them.

By “people” he means Russian officials who are the target of his boast. The audience for the boast presumably included some of the actual underlings who had their underlings carefully move nuclear submarines closer to Russia. The weak joker with the racist slurs and the tough guy who doesn’t have to follow the rules enforced by libs have wowed other audiences. (Audiences who should pay attention to the Quantico show and stop thinking about the Epstein files.)

Much has been made of the fact that the generals and admirals didn’t applaud or cheer, even when prompted to do so by their commander in chief. Apparently this is part of their culture at speeches.

Not all of them avoided the facepalm though.

The t.v. talking head Secretary of WAR gave new directives to his underlings and explained, “They were written for you. These directives are designed to take the monkey off your back.”

I guess Hegseth does not know what that phrase means. Or was he projecting?

The bellicose rhetoric aimed at transsexuals continued in a way that reminds my generation of Klinger on MASH trying to get out of the Army during the Korean War by cross dressing. “No more dudes in dresses. We are done with that shit..”

Not only MASH but Dobie Gillis came into play:

“No more beardos” because to Hegseth they look like “nordic pagans.”

A question I have at this point: when these leaders are done alienating so many of the groups that have traditionally filled the ranks of the U.S. military, what will be left? Overpaid white guys, obviously. I guess the show will go on with whatever clowns they can scrape up at that point.

To end with some good news you won’t see in U.S. media, the Sumud flotilla might not have made it through with supplies, but Gazans were able to fish while the Israeli Occupation Navy was busy menacing the flotilla!
